This course provides both the theory and practical approaches to air changes in your building - the central recommendation by the US Centers for Disease Control and ASHRAE in re-opening and/or operating your building safely while the COVID-19 pandemic continues.  The goal is to provide the student with the information and tools required to help them operate their buildings as safely as possible.

Overview:

The course provides relevant theory, guidelines, code requirements and practical information on how to determine the air changes that are possible in your building, walks students through the air change determination process, and discusses strategies to improve safety while minimizing cost. 

Course Prerequisites:

  • Familiarity with design drawings and simple calculations 
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems and Excel spreadsheets 

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • The need for air changes and recommendations by CDC/ASHRAE 
  • Important definitions and theory related to COVID-19 and air flow 
  • Where to find relevant information, and how to calculate air changes 
  • Possible impacts of changes to your building systems 
  • Other CDC/ASHRAE advice relating to air changes in a pandemic scenario 

What You Will Receive:

Upon the completion of this course students will receive a Certificate of Completion.  We will provide course materials including the course slides, and a video introduction to analytics capabilities. This will be an online only course.
