Presented by Hydronics Sales Engineer Bobby Henderson, this webinar covers a range of new and highlighted products in the hydronics and plumbing sector. The session begins with a focus on the increased popularity of heat pumps, particularly heat pump water heaters, and their role in the growing trend of electrification in water heating systems. Henderson introduces two key products: the CO2-based Aegis heat pump water heater with capacities ranging from 250,000 to 500,000 BTUs, and the Nyle 513 product line, which operates down to 10°F in low-ambient conditions. These air-source heat pump water heaters are well-suited for various applications, and there are also water-source heat pump options for projects with condenser water loops or ground-source systems.
The discussion then moves to electrification, which has become a significant trend in both water heating and boiler systems. Henderson highlights the customizable electric water heating tanks from Link and PVI, which offer a wide range of sizes and insulation values, with capacities up to 260 kW. These systems are available in both horizontal and vertical orientations. Additionally, he introduces electric boilers, including traditional electric resistance boilers and electrode boilers for larger industrial applications. Electrode boilers, although pricier, are ideal for steam and hot water needs in larger facilities.
Henderson also discusses steam products, including modular water tube steam boilers from Miura, which are fast-acting and can reach full steam pressure within four minutes. He also mentions Superior’s fire-tube and water-tube boilers, along with heat exchangers from Thermoflo, which provide efficient steam-to-hot-water or steam-to-domestic-water heating.
Next, Henderson introduces the new vacuum degasser from Spirotherm, designed to remove dissolved oxygen from hydronic systems, particularly in large, complex buildings where traditional air and dirt separators may not fully eliminate oxygen. This product is ideal for multi-branched systems that have trouble circulating water and removing air pockets.
For gas-fired appliances, Henderson highlights the US Draft control damper, a product that ensures proper back pressure and prevents overdrafting, particularly in regions with wind fluctuations. This damper is suitable for water heaters, boilers, and other gas-fired devices, offering a simple yet effective solution for venting issues.
PVI’s Conquest and Centurion water heaters are also discussed, with capacities now extended up to 1.2 million BTUs for the Conquest line. The Centurion, designed for high-demand applications, provides 1.6 to 2 million BTUs with excellent turndown ratios and combustion controls.
Finally, Henderson closes with a brief mention of the Raypak XE condensing boilers, which range from 400,000 to 4 million BTUs. These boilers offer a small footprint and are ideal for variable flow applications, with O2 trim now available as a standard option to improve combustion efficiency.
In conclusion, the webinar covers a broad range of new and featured products in the hydronics and plumbing sector, with a focus on energy efficiency, electrification, and innovative solutions for large-scale commercial applications. These products offer flexibility, improved performance, and sustainability, catering to the evolving needs of the market.
