The Objective

990 Bannock is a commercial building in Denver, CO that houses a variety of multi-purpose offices. For this project, they were in need of some VTAC louvers that would match the building’s exterior design as well as integrate with their PTAC (Package Terminal Air Conditioner) systems. From our HVAC equipment expertise and architectural project management skills, LONG was selected to source and install louvers to fulfill their requirements. We choose high-quality VTAC louvers from Ruskin for the job. These Ruskin louvers facilitate the PTAC system’s air intake and exhaust while matching the building’s functional aesthetic.

The Challenges

As with all commercial construction projects, there were a variety of challenges we had to contend with along the way.

  1. Timing: The louver installation needed to be completed with minimal disruption to the project’s timeline. As just one piece of a larger construction project, the timing of the louver installation needed to work in conjunction, and not interfere, with other construction being performed.
  2. Integration and Coordination: Precision was necessary for the louver installation, as they had to be installed on prefabricated walls. This required meticulous coordination and communication with the offsite fabrication company to ensure accurate dimensions and placement.
  3. Building Aesthetic: The louver’s performance and efficiency with PTAC systems was important product consideration, but it wasn’t the only factor. The physical design of the louvers also had to be aligned with the building’s aesthetic. This required a mindful, deliberate decision when picking the right louver for the project’s needs.
  4. Weather Resistance: The installation had to take account of Denver’s varied climate. We had to choose a product that not only matched the efficiency and aesthetic needs but could resist the harsh temperatures, snow, hail, and sun that Denver experiences through the year without compromising appearance or airflow.

The Solutions

LONG’s Architectural Team managed the full project from start to finish. They coordinated closely with the prefabrication company to ensure accurate installation on the building’s exterior walls. The Ruskin VTAC louvers were successfully placed and then integrated with the PTAC systems, providing necessary ventilation while maintaining the aesthetic integrity of the design. They then provided quality control, inspecting the louvers to ensure they were securely attached and positioned for optimal airflow and weather resistance.

Results

  • Efficient Installation: Due to their collaboration with the prefabrication company, LONG was able to streamline the integration process and keep the project on schedule with no disruptions to other work.
  • Optimal Airflow: The Ruskin louvers provide the necessary ventilation for the building’s PTAC systems, ensuring they function efficiently and effectively.
  • Aesthetic Alignment: The VTAC louvers not only met the functional needs of the building but complemented its exterior design, maintaining a modern, cohesive look.
  • Durability: Ruskin’s high-quality louvers will provide reliable protection against Denver’s climate and offer long-term durability for the building’s climate control efficiency.

Thanks to LONG’s expertise in HVAC systems and expansive product knowledge, the right VTAC louvers were chosen for the job and the installation was a success. Their efforts delivered both functional and aesthetic results, ensuring optimal performance of the PTAC systems and achieving the aesthetic cohesion of the sleek, modern commercial building for years to come.
