Unlike other integrators, we utilize PLCs (programmable logic controllers), enabling single-point responsibility for high-security buildings. This allows for integration of door and elevator controls, video surveillance, intercommunications, paging, utility controls, alarm monitoring, and other security functions into a unified package. Our solutions are designed to be efficient and ergonomic for facilities and comply with applicable building codes, often for institution occupancy, while incorporating relevant standards (PREA, ACA, etc.).
Engineering-led System Upgrades & Prime Contractor Services
We specialize in security system upgrades for corrections and public safety facilities, and serve as the engineer-of-record on a large percentage of our projects. Our professional engineering registration in multiple states limits your need to employ another engineer on system upgrade projects – even major upgrades. This eliminates the cost and the time of a formal design engineer and design phase. We fully coordinate with other disciplines while providing a full scope of design services, including equipment space planning, pathway coordination, BIM conflict resolution, and RCP coordination.
In addition, we frequently lead security system upgrade projects as the prime contractor. We use proactive management and supervision to ensure these projects are executed successfully and efficiently. We’re equipped with all the licensing, certifications, project managers, and information technology systems to excel as your general contractor.
Design-Build Process to Reduce Project Schedule
Our design-build credentials and expertise simplify your work because we engineer and manage the project from the ground up. We also accelerate your project timeline as design-build saves an additional procurement phase when compared to traditional design/bid/build projects. Our 120 projects and $50 million total systems value only includes the contract value of projects performed. Justice Systems has planned and/or designed at least five times these numbers in proposed projects and design services provided.
Security System Service, Support & Long-Term Maintenance Contracts
We have provided follow-on service and support for approximately 70% of the facilities we build or upgrade — some $7 million in maintenance services. Some of those relationships span 15 years of continuous service.
New Construction Security System Design for Justice & Public Safety Facilities
We have also designed and built six new construction projects with a total value over $6 million, including the award-winning $186-million King County Children and Family Justice Center. The project received the 2020 Merit Award in the Federal/State/County/Municipal category from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA).
Electronic Security System Integration for Justice & Government Buildings
Justice Systems has successfully integrated (built designs by others) 40 projects totaling $29 million. Approximately half are retrofits on which we typically served as general (prime) contractor, while the other half were new construction with Justice Systems serving as the electronic security integrator.
Security Retrofits, Upgrades & Modernizations for Government Facilities
Justice Systems has successfully designed and built 70 security retrofit projects with a total construction value of $15 million. 90% of our design-build projects are retrofits and major/minor security upgrades, where we also serve as prime contractor. These include general government buildings, courts, jails, juvenile facilities, secure mental health facilities, and prisons.
