LONG's Better Buildings 2006 Program
An incentive program to help you invest in the technology of your building
LONG is pleased to offer to our institutional, commercial and industrial
customers an incentive package for reducing peak electrical demand during
the hottest parts of the summer. By implementing certain HVAC and lighting
system upgrades, customers can qualify for a financial incentive that helps
offset the first cost of the building improvement while making the ensuing
energy savings even more attractive as a reason to invest.
WHY?
In sponsoring our program with funds from its latest DSM effort called
Customer Efficiency, Public Service Company of Colorado hopes to optimize
front-range system consumption to avoid purchasing additional generating
capacity. Due the significant growth here in Colorado over the last few
years, we now have a "summer peak" problem, with the occasional brown-outs
in the region as evidence that the necessary capacity is not always
available to meet demand. Your participation in the program will help avert
a coming energy crisis for the front-range.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Those building owners along the front range and eastward who currently
purchase their retail
electric service from PSCo in Colorado are eligible to participate.
WHAT TYPES OF UPGRADES QUALIFY?
Building upgrades must reduce electric demand during PSCo's summer peak
demand period
(defined as all weekdays, between the hours of 3 pm and 7 pm, during the
months of June, July, and August) and may be obtained through an improvement
in efficiency, a shift in load, or a substitution of another fuel for
electricity.
TYPICAL PROJECTS INCLUDE:
- Installing more efficient Roof Top Units that provide air
conditioning (RTUs)
- Installing more efficient refrigeration machines (chillers)
- Load shifting strategies, such as ice storage
- Retrofitting more efficient lighting systems
- Switching to alternative fuels (e.g. natural gas absorption
machines)
- Custom HVAC designs such as indirect/direct evaporative cooling
systems
HOW DO I GET STARTED?
Contact LONG at 303-975-2165 and ask for a Better Buildings
2006 program representative, or contact the energy solutions
professional listed below. Over the phone we can pre-qualify
your facility and arrange for an on-site, preliminary
audit. Once that is complete, LONG will recommend applicable
technology investments that meet your payback criteria.
Your subsequent approval will unlock the true operating
potential of your building!
